有一天，菩萨望著茫茫的人海，感叹无边众生难度。由于一念的怯弱，不幸头破七分。
菩萨刹那觉醒到自己的无明。
一时，阿弥陀佛乘坐莲台前来，安慰鼓励菩萨，并授予六字大明王咒，菩萨得此心咒密意，即刻身形完好如初。
六字大明咒的密意，就是令诵持者关闭六道生死之门，发起大悲之情，开敷觉悟无染的心莲。
